Hello!

I'm Adelle Kent

An Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) & Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC) specialising in eating disorder recovery and neurodivergent eating experiences

About Me

I’m Adelle, a late-diagnosed neurodivergent human, Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) & Credentialed Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC). I specialise in eating disorder recovery, neurodivergent eating, and trauma-informed nutrition care.

I don’t believe in generic meal plans or one-size-fits-all approaches. Instead, I work collaboratively, meeting you where you’re at and helping you navigate food and body image in a way that feels right for you. Recovery isn’t linear, and it’s not about perfection—it’s about finding what works for you.

Eating disorders and disordered eating are deeply personal to me. From a young age, I’ve faced my own battles with food and body image. While I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone, it has given me a unique perspective, deeper empathy, and a desire to help others in a world that often labels food as ‘good’ or ‘bad.’

As a neurodivergent person, I also understand the chaos of executive differences, sensory sensitivities, and interoception struggles. I love working with others who feel ‘a bit different’ and helping them unravel the complex connections between food, trauma, and identity — because food isn’t just about nutrients; it’s about lived experiences.

How I Work

At the same time, I know that connecting with your body isn’t always straightforward — especially for neurodivergent people and those who have experienced trauma. Interoception differences can make it hard to recognise hunger, fullness, and emotional cues, making intuitive eating feel out of reach.

Rather than expecting body awareness to just "click," I focus on helping you build a relationship with food and your body in a way that actually makes sense for you. This might mean working with sensory-friendly foods, identifying body cues beyond hunger and fullness, or using grounding techniques to support nervous system regulation. I recognise that for some, focusing on "how food feels" can be distressing or meaningless, so our work is always flexible, person-centred, and tailored to your unique experiences.

I believe that learning should be engaging, relatable, and embodied. A little disclaimer — I like to use kids movies as analogies to break down complex concepts. If you’ve ever seen Inside Out, you’ll know the Angry Red Guy — he’s loud, controlling, and tends to take over. He’s a great comparison for the eating disorder voice — intrusive, demanding, and overwhelming.

Finding ways to externalise and challenge these thoughts is a big part of the work we do together. I also incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) and parts work, helping you understand that these thoughts aren’t "you" at your core self — they’re parts of you that are trying to meet a need, even if they’re showing up in ways that aren’t helpful. Instead of battling these parts, we work toward understanding them with curiosity and self-compassion, so they don’t have to take over.
